Bling Birthday Peony

 

I got the idea for this card from a card I pinned on Pinterest. I used Pixie Pink and Pretty in Pink inks from Stampin' Up! to distress the opposite corners. The peony is an 8-layer cut file from Silhouette, which I cut out of pink card stock, with a lighter pink center. I used Pixie Pink ink to distress all 8 layers before bending them a little and gluing them together. The bling is 2 pieces from my stash. I layered the white card stock onto a small piece of black and then onto pink.The sentiment is from Gina K. Design's Arranged with Love set.

Survivor

This is my entry for Tuesday's Color challenge over at The Outlawz. This week's color combination is Apricot, Dusky Pink and Cream. The added twist is to use 3 or more layers.

 

For this card, I used another spectacular Doodle Pantry image. This set is called I Will Survive. Here is a picture of all the wonderful images you get in this set.

I didn't use a sentiment on the outside of the card because I think the image speaks for itself. But, there is a wonderful quote from Emily Dickinson that comes with this set that I used on the inside of the card. I took one of Laurie's pre-colored images, removed the colored background and printed it on ivory card stock. I re-colored the image using Copic markers - Y15 for the bird's body; YR14 for the beak and feet; RV13 for the ribbon. I used Spellbinder's Marvelous Squares die to cut the image out and mounted it on melon card stock. The designer paper is unknown from my stash, but I used YR14 to color some of the dots and layered that on apricot card stock. I then layered that on more melon card stock and then ivory card stock for the base. The flowers are a die from Cheery Lynn. I finished the card off with 2 apricot and 10 raspberry goosebumps from Queen & Co.

This is my entry for the Monday Greeting Card challenge over at The Outlawz. The challenge this week is Stars and/or Stripes.

 

For this challenge, I used one of the new sets released this month from Doodle Pantry. This set is called Freedom Eagle, and is just one of several awesome patriotic sets Laurie has created.  Here is an image of all the wonderful images and paper you get in this set:

 

I started off with her pre-colored image with the banner. I added the sentiment "America" inside the banner before printing. I pulled the image into my Silhouette Cameo software and traced the image to make a print and cut file. I then made 2 outlines to go around the image, both using white card stock (the first layer I used Brilliant Blue ink from Stampin' Up! to distress the outer edges and the second layer I left white). After printing and cutting the image, I re-colored some portions of the image. I used Copic markers, a Marvy Glitter marker and an Inkssentials White Opaque gel pen. I used E27 and E29 on the Eagle's wings and body and then used the Inkssentials White Opaque gel pen on the tips of the wings. I used a Sakura clear glitter pen on the tips of the arrows. I used a red Marvy Glitter marker around the banner, then used R00 to pull the color into the banner to give it shading. I used E40 on the Eagle's head, and then used the white opaque gel pen over the top of that for dimension. I used G28 on the leaves for added depth. The shield was left exactly how Laurie colored it. Using pop dots, I layered the image on the inked outline and then onto the white outline. The designer paper is from the stamp set. I typed the "God Bless" portion of the sentiment on my computer using the Colonna MT font, which was a good match for Laurie's "America" sentiment. I used the small oval punch from Stampin' Up! to punch that out, and added 3 little red star crystals. To finish the card, I used Queen and Co.'s Goosebump stars in red, clear and blue and put then diagonally on both sides of the focal image.

1st Birthday

This is a card I created for our Great Nephew Scottie, who will be 1 year old next month.

 

 For this card, I chose to use Birthday Birdie from Doodle Pantry. I think this is one of the most adorable images for a 1st birthday card. The image, sentiment and designer paper are all from the set. I know I have said this before, but Laurie's designer papers are incredible. I took my color palette from the designer paper to color the image. I used the following Copic markers for this project: cupcake wrapper, candle, hat & some sprinkles - BG02, BG05, BG07 and BG09; candle flame, beak and feet - Y35 and Y38; ground - G40; some sprinkles and pom pom - V06 and V09; cake - E33; frosting - E40; bird and some sprinkles - Y02, Y04 and Y06. I also added some small clear crystals with the sprinkles to give it a look of sugar. I added a yellow balloon brad next to the sentiment. The image was layered onto a small piece of black card stock, then the designer paper and then yellow card stock.

Thankful for You

This is my entry for Sunday's CAS Challenge over at The Outlawz.

 

This card was made using the negative space of a flower I had cut from black card stock with my Silhouette Cameo. The cut file is from their online store. I glued the black card stock onto a piece of white card stock. I had intended to leave it black and white, but my Copic markers started calling my name, so I went with it. For the petals I used R02, R14 and R17 and for the leaves and stem, I used  G20, G24 and G28. I wish I could have left it unmounted, because when the light shines through, it was such a beautiful color. I mounted the flower onto a piece of silver glitter card stock and then rose red card stock for the card base. The sentiment is from Gina K Design's Thankful for You Stamp Duo set, which I embossed with silver embossing powder. Then I added 3 silver pearls at the top and 3 silver pearls under the sentiment.

Something to Crow About

 

Oh boy, did I have fun with this card! I used three different sets from Doodle Pantry to create this scene. I used the brand new set Rooster, and two older sets Old Barn and Wagon Wheel. Because I wanted to use the colored versions of each of these images, I had to remove a couple of things using my computer software Fireworks. I removed the grass and sky from the Old Barn, the sky from the Wagon Wheel and the piece of board from the Rooster. I didn't have to do anything about seeing the outline of the grass on the Old Barn because the fence covered it up nicely. Although I used all pre-colored images, I did need to color the ground behind the fence and because I used the wrong color, it matched the fence too closely, so I needed to darken the fence a little bit. I just love the way this scene came out. I added the sentiment and a little bit of black bling then layered it on black, cherry cobbler and white card stock.

Vintage Shoe

 

I decided to combine two challenges into one card this week. I finally got a chance to use the Fancy Shoe set from Doodle Pantry. I love this image, and the designer paper Laurie created to go with it. The set also includes several really fun sentiments too. I decided to use the pre-colored version of the shoe, because, well, it was perfect. I added tiny white pearls around the jewel on the shoe, then slightly larger white pearls on the pink lace and then green pearls for the buttons on the shoe. I added the Spellbinder's pearls around the sentiment as well. The lace doily was cut on my Silhouette Cameo using a cut file from their store. The flowers are from Stampin' Up! and the pearl flourishes and flowers are from my stash. I distressed all the paper with a light sandy colored brown ink to give it more of a vintage look.

Congratulations Graduate

This is my entry for the Tuesday Color Challenge over at The Outlawz. It seems like forever since I have entered any challenges, and I'm so happy to be back creating again.

 

I created this card for my nephew Ryan who just graduated with Highest Distinction from UVA with a degree in BioMedical Engineering. This card started off with the graduation cap, which was supposed to be the card, but I decided it was too small, so I built the card around it. The cap, tassle, Class of 2013 and Congratulations Graduate were all cut on my Silhouette Cameo. The "button" in the middle of the cap is a logo from UVA's Engineering department that I cut out with a Spellbinder's circle die. I then mixed up some resin and did a dome effect by dropping resin onto the circle until it was covered. I didn't realize the resin was going to make the paper transparent, but that's what happened. Using the same logo, I created a half sheet of designer paper for the background. I made this card into an easel card and used the sentiment inside to hold the easel open. I added some metal bling at the top to finish the card off.

Follow Your Dreams

This is my entry for the Mix It Up Monday - Sentimentally Layered challenge over at Stamp TV. I am so excited to be entering this challenge...it has been entirely too long.

 

This card was done using the Triore Folding technique. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is a lot like Iris Folding, except all of your folds are in the shape of a triangle. There are many patterns you can use. This card is a pattern that was created by Dorothea Stone, a very good friend of mine who passed away recently. She made her own patterns and used to teach classes at one of our local stamp stores. What I loved about this pattern is that she used one of Spellbinder's die cuts, and since I have that die cut, I can put it wherever I want to on the card. All of the papers used on this card were from one of Dorothea's kits. I used a corner punch to add a bit of interest and then stamped the sentiment from Gina K. Design's Follow Your Dreams set. I added the extra metal dragonfly and a bit of bling to make it pop. This card has four layers.

Tiny Feet

Are you ready for another fabulous release from Doodle Pantry? Well, it's June 1st and that means Laurie has even more terrific digital stamp sets for us.

I used the absolutely sweetest baby set called Baby Shoes. This is a picture of all the wonderful images and sentiments you receive when you purchase this set.

 

 Here is the card I created for this release:

 

I used the baby blue colorized version of these Baby Shoes. Laurie also made them in pink and a neutral color, as well as giving you just the outline so you can color them yourself. The designer paper I used came from the set, as well as the sentiment. I used Spellbinder's Marvelous Squares and printed an extra copy of the shoes and cut them out by hand. I layered them on top of the other image to add dimension to the card. I purchased these cute little charms from Joann's and I punched little holes and added them to the bottom of the image. I used white and navy card stock for layering.

A new digital challenge will also begin at noon today and run until June 24th over at the Doodle Pantry blog.
