This image is from the set Honey Bear Birdie by Doodle Pantry. I have been dying to use this image for a while and finally made it. Isn't this birdie in a bear suit too adorable for words? I think so. Okay, so on to how I made it. I printed the image onto white card stock and colored it with Copic markers (bear suit - E33, E35, E37; birdie and bees - Y12, Y14, Y16; I'm sorry I can't remember the other colors). To get the texture on the bear suit, I cut a piece of a terry washcloth and balled it up in my fingers. Using the blender ink refill, I put 2 drops on the cloth and dabbed the suit, making sure I didn't get the bird's face. The shape was cut out using my Silhouette and then I enlarged it a little bit for the black layer behind it. I printed the sentiment, also from the Honey Bear Birdie set, onto white card stock and distressed the edges with So Saffron ink. This was layered onto black card stock and then a white card stock base.
The honeycomb was made using a silver shimmer sheet by Elizabeth Crafts. I used Stampin' Up!'s honeycomb embossing folder to get the embossed effect. I then cut out all the yellow honeycombs on my Silhouette (3/4"). I distressed all of the pieces using So Saffron ink and glued them onto the shimmer sheet. I then cut away the parts that I didn't want. I placed the honeycomb on an angle and popped the image up on top of it. Added a little yellow bling to finish it off.
If you haven't been to Doodle Pantry yet, you need to go there. Laurie has a lot of amazing digital stamps to choose from. There are also quite a bit of them that are free or free with purchase.
